The Story
Whisper Web is a free browser tool for people who want editable transcripts without sending the source recording to a Whisper Web application server. It transcribes audio, video and microphone recordings on the user's device with Tiny, Base or Small Whisper models, WebAssembly or WebGPU, timestamps and TXT, JSON, SRT or VTT exports. A separate local workflow handles files up to 1 GB or one hour, and an MP4-to-MP3 tool converts MP4, MOV or WebM files locally. The site still needs network access for application assets and model downloads. Whisper Web is independent and is not an official OpenAI service.
